After researching and exploring several challenging aspects of contemporary urbanization, students from So Young Kim Studio have proposed some insightful and thought-provoking theses, ranging from revitalizing urban wastelands into a new urban infrastructure, waste to energy utilizing oyster shells as architectural material, 3D-printing for housing construction, rethinking the future of urban logistic centers, envisioning a new lifestyle in the countryside, and reinterpreting what is a democratic space for a new national assembly hall. Although it cannot control the outcome, architecture holds the potential to set the stage for social interactions, thus nurturing community building and influencing the fabric of our social culture.
